Geoff and Gilly headed back to the clubhouse
to collect some drinks but somehow got lost and
ended up in a private estate adjacent to the course –
much to the owner’s surprise as his land and estate
is well fenced and gated. The owner guided Geoff
and Gilly back onto the road to the golf club. The
road in question is the A14, a major artery for the
area – you can only guess what the drivers (lorries,
cars, etc) thought on seeing a golf buggy on this
very busy road – holding traffic up until he got back
to the club main entrance.
There is also a story to be told re Tony Fryer and Final Night dinner
his wayward drive but will save that for Captain’s Day
(11 September 2024 at the Army Course, Aldershot).
