ACC Golfing Society Summer Tour 2022 –
Sheffield
The ACC Golfing Society Spring Tour took
place in the Sheffield area from 8-13 May 22. The
meeting was hosted by Mike Webster with Geoff
Acott and friends organising the administration of
the week. Twenty-one members and guests attended
what was an excellent week of golf and banter
with two challenging courses at Abbeydale and
Sitwell Park and two great courses at Retford and
Rotherham. Full results are available on the ACC

brief the Tour Champion was Keith Pollitt with a
score of 105 over the three day 54-hole Stableford
competition a runaway winner in every sense of
the word. Runner-up was George Cumming on
98 and third by one point Association Secretary
Eric Lewis. As usual participants saw this annual

The Tour is not all golf, the tour meets every
night to share dinner and stories re the day’s golf as
well reminiscing about past exploits whilst serving
in the Corps. As you can imagine, the evenings
can be lively, especially with the obligatory
game of `chase the ace` to gather funds for the
Captain’s Charity.
Paul Critchley and Planning for 2023 is currently underway with
Peter Sharman sharing
a soft drink after a the chosen location being Forest of Arden – the
round of golf – it is info will be promulgated on the ACC website to
really a soft drink! book your place.
Round The World Clipper Race

Captain is participating in an
arduous leg 7 of the Clipper
Round the World Yacht Race
from 22nd April to 30th July
2022. Progress can be followed at

and click on the “Imagine Your
Korea” boat link. Vince is raising
money for hospitality industry
charity Springboard and Norfolk
Community Foundation, which
support youth unemployment and mental health. He aims
to raise £15,000 and contributions can be made at www.just-
giving.com/campaign/Sail4Recovery where he looks to be on
target and where more can be read about the charities he is
supporting.
