Officers’ Club Summer Outing to Leander
Wednesday 8th June, a beautiful sunny day, albeit Lt Col Bill Withers
very windy, saw 50 club members descend on the – entertaining
Leander Club, Henley on Thames for their annual
summer outing.
Nothing is ever easy and with accidents occur-
ring on route, saw the bus over an hour late to
arrive. Nevertheless, all members arrived for coffee
and pastries before boarding and we set off along
the Thames with a glass of prosecco in hand. The
views were stunning and for those brave enough
to sit on deck, were really appreciated. It was great
to see members attending this year who for differ-
ent reasons hadn’t made it previously; there were
of course those that had been for many years but
everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Returning to the clubhouse, the bar was open
and a 3 course meal was served in a delightful set- concluded with a few words from our chairman
ting overlooking the Thames. A wonderful day was before the bus departed for the long journey back
to Aldershot, although some members took the
Major Shepherd –
nautical theme opportunity to continue the afternoon visiting the
delights in Henley.
A great event, but we really did miss Paul Budd!!
