2 Para Chefs (mid 80s) reunion and tab

On Tuesday the 21st March 2023 we enjoyed
a fantastic day out with our mini-2 Para chef’s
reunion. Sadly, because of unfortunate bouts of
illness and injury, three of our number couldn’t
         make it.
Nevertheless, bright and early in the morning
four of us and Alfie the dog teamed up and after
the obligatory egg banjos, made our way (via car
courtesy of Mrs Carol Walker, long suffering wife
of Chip) to Lulworth Cove on the Jurassic coast in
         south Dorset.
As soon as we were there, we donned our back-
packs and set off on an immediate start with a long
steep climb up and headed west past St Oswald’s
Bay along the rough path. After a while there was a
little respite with a downhill segment to the natural
         limestone arch of Durdle Door.
After passing the arch we continued to climb Chip Walker, Tommy refreshments. The Landlord is very pro-veteran and
steeply on another three hills toward Swyre Head, Onions, Keith Foster and he and his staff were keen to look after us.
                                                     George (Mark) Foreman –
the highest point in the Purbeck Hills. It’s very very After lunch we stood up, groaned with back
                                                     start of the tab
steep and we really began to feel our age. It’s a great aches and knee pains and then set off once more.
spot standing at an elevation of 208 m (682 ft) and This time it was largely down hill as we marched
commanding views as far as Dartmoor and the Isle toward Bowleaze Cove and then onto Lodmoor in
of Portland near Weymouth. The Isle of Wight, Weymouth.
Lulworth Cove, Poole Harbour and much of the We each completed the 13.5 miles of tab along
Purbeck Hills are also visible on a clear day. the Jurassic Coast, hard work but great fun.
Fortunately for us the route then settles into Great effort by all concerned.

                                                                       Foreman
Ringstead Bay. It’s another stunningly beautiful
area with the cliffs and views at White Nothe Next year we are opening the event for all members of
