The South Wales reunion (Posh Doo)
on the 19th March 2022
Well folks there we go, the first reunion held
in South Wales at the Ty Newydd Country
Hotel, Hirwaun near Aberdare. It all began with
numerous discussions between me and Dave Bevan
it was decided that we would do one. Then over to
Dave for the advertisement and me the leg work for
the venue etc we finally got there.
My thanks go to the now retired Corps
Secretary Wally Vincent for getting the grant from
the Corps to help with the evening’s costs. To Dave
Bevan for the aerial pictures for the Facebook page
advertisement and not forgetting a special thanks
to Paul Chalk who was volunteered to be Mr Vice
(Master of Ceremonies) for the evening on the
actual night. He thought he got away with it but…

in a picturesque area of South Wales on the edge of
the Brecon Beacon national park and about a mile
from the Penderyn whisky distillery where the true
Welsh whisky is made. Others tourist wonders in
the local area such as Pen-y-fan, Swansea, Brecon

A decent enough menu for evening for the

Starter – Andersons Pate or melon
Main – Chicken Supreme (roast) or braised beef
Dessert – Profiter rolls with Chocolate sauce or
Luxury Vanilla Cheesecake.
All this served by the young hotel staff who did
a great job with smooth service and professional in
their role. Plenty of food for us all and extra items
on the table for people to top up on should they
so wish.
This then followed by the traditional raffle
where those attending get to bring a varied item
to help raffle off. This followed by a bit of music to
unwind to selected by the hotel DJ, a decent selec-
tion of music played for the ages of those there.
At the end of the night all guests got to leave
with a small gift from the local area with some
excellent chocolates.
